Malin Broman top Swedish musician of the year

- Opus magazine votes OCO’s Artistic Director Malin Broman top Swedish musician of the year

The Swedish music magazine Opus has placed Malin Broman, leader and Artistic Director of the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra (OCO), top of its list of outstanding musicians of the year. The magazine annually draws up a list of Sweden’s top 20 names in classical music. This list has previously included such names as trombonist Christian Lindberg, clarinettist Martin Fröst, soprano Nina Stemme and baritone Peter Mattei.

Says Opus – a Swedish magazine specialising in classical music – in justifying its choice: “Not only is she First Concertmaster of the [Swedish] Radio Symphony Orchestra, an internationally sought-after soloist and a leading figure in a host of orchestras and festivals. Malin Broman is also a pioneer of a new style of leadership. /…/ First place on the Opus list for the year goes to probably the most hard-working musician in Sweden – a violinist who with her inclusive way of working bolsters not only her colleagues but all musical life in Sweden.”

Malin Broman began her three-year term as Artistic Director of the OCO in autumn 2019.
