Malin Broman new Artistic Director

Swedish violinist Malin Broman will be the new Artistic Director of the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, replacing Sakari Oramo who has been holding the Artistic Directors post from year 2013. Broman will take up her appointment from September 2019 and the contract will be for 3 years. 

Currently Malin Broman serves as 1st concertmaster of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and is also the Artistic Director of the Swedish chamber orchestra Musica Vitae. Broman is known as an active and innovative chamber musician as well as internationally sought-after guest concert master and orchestral leader. As a guest leader, she has been invited to perform with internationally acclaimed orchestra’s such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe and Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Broman comments on the news: “I have worked occasionally with OCO for some years now and it is absolutely fantastic to have a possibility to work long-term with this splendid orchestra. I am looking forward to this 3-year-period with curiosity and enthusiasm.”

The Orchestra’s current Artistic Director Sakari Oramo is happy with the choice of his successor: ”I am very pleased that Malin Broman will be the next Artistic Director of the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra. Malin is an excellent musician and I am certain she has lot to give to the Orchestra. A splendid choice.” 

 Malin Broman will play-direct the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra next time in March 2019.
